New Jersey is home to a vast array of communities and cultures, and throughout the year, many of those groups host parades or festivals to celebrate where they’re from and share their heritage with their wider communities.

Since 1978, Elizabeth has been home to an annual Portuguese Day Parade, bringing together organizations, clubs, nonprofits and religious groups to march down Elizabeth Avenue and show their Portuguese cultural pride. This year’s parade will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, and will kick off at 2pm at Union Square in front of Carloto’s Bakery. After Elizabeth Avenue, the parade will make a left on South Broad Street and another left onto Grove Street before concluding at the Portuguese Instructive Club.

Other upcoming events from the Elizabeth Portugal Day include a bicycle tour of Elizabeth on May 19th, a golf tournament on May 20th, and a Flag Raising at Elizabeth’s City Hall on May 31st.

The Portuguese Instructive Club is located on the corner of Route 1 & 9 South and Grove Street in Elizabeth, NJ. BestRentNJ.com rental apartments available for rent in Elizabeth include Wilder Manor.
