As any gardener knows, there’s no feeling more satisfying than planting seeds in the ground, tending to your crops and watching them grow into food that nourishes you. And planting vegetables alongside your friends and neighbors? That’s even better.
As of this year, residents of Florham Park can garden as a community, with the launch of the organic community garden at the Elm Street Recreation Complex. Opened in June, the garden offers 15 plots of about 100 square feet each. Residents who rent plots have access to them through November — offering plenty of opportunity for gardeners to grow delicious and colorful food, connect with their fellow gardeners and build out this community resource.
Managed by the Florham Park Borough Recreation Department, the community garden is an idea that’s been in the making since 2012. It’s a testament to community, and an opportunity to build and grow together. Read more about the community garden or apply for a plot of your own today.
