Commuting just became a whole lot easier for Edison residents. On January 1st, a new parking lot was unveiled at NJ Transit’s Edison Train Station, bringing an additional 477 spaces to this heavily trafficked station. This brings the total number of parking spots available at the Edison Station to 816.

Located off of Kilmer Road, the new parking lot is connected to Plainfield Avenue and the station building via a walkway. In addition, an outdoor seating area has been unveiled on the south side of the station, making for more comfortable wait times, while a new food stand has opened inside the station.

The new lot has been a double boon to residents: partially funded through federal stimulus money, construction created new jobs within Edison, while the increased ease of commuting will help Edison dwellers get to jobs located further away. The Edison Train Station services NJ Transit’s Northeast Corridor Line, offering direct service to New York City and Newark Penn Station, and providing connecting service to Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and beyond.
