West Windsor, NJ is safe and idyllic, offering access to shopping, arts, and beautiful park space. It also has a rich and storied history, made accessible to visitors and residents alike at the Schenck Farmstead.

Donated to the township of West Windsor by Max Zaitz in 1991, the 120-acre farm, which includes an 18th century farmhouse, barn and various other structures, is a beautiful property dating back to the Schenck family’s purchase of 6,000 acres from the township in 1737. Today, the Schenck Farmstead stands as the site of a historical museum featuring artifacts of a 1930s general store, preserved and recreating structures, and more. The property contains a collection of farm equipment featuring different kinds of equipment used over the years in West Windsor, and has included an environmental education exhibit, teaching school-aged visitors about farming and agribusiness.

Open days at the farmstead include visits to the schoolhouse, barn and interactive museum. The next open days at the farmstead will be held Sunday, June 14th from 1-4pm.
