This fall, Carteret saw the addition of a new community institution. Opened in September, the Blazing Star Cultural Arts Center is now home to the Carteret Historical Committee and the Central Jersey Arts Council and serves as a practice space for cultural groups like the new Carteret Community Choir.
The grand opening marked the launch of programming including historical exhibitions and presentations, musical performances, community arts & art shows, musical workshops, classes and more. This month, visitors can look forward to an ancient coin exhibition, improv workshops, family instrument exploration, “Blazing Star Cafe,” and more. Check out the full November programming calendar here. The Blazing Star Cultural Arts Center is part of the recent spate of additions to the Carteret cultural scene, which also includes the upcoming Carteret Performing Arts Center. Part of the Washington Avenue Redevelopment Area, the Carteret Performing Arts Center will include a 1,500-seat, state-of-the-art performing arts facility, plus a concert hall.
