Piscataway is one of the Garden State’s oldest towns, and many important historical events took place within its borders — including the very first national 4th of July celebration, held on July 4th, 1778. It makes sense, then, that Independence Day in Piscataway is more than a one-day affair.
From June 29th through July 6th, Piscataway and neighboring New Brunswick will be home to a host of celebrations, starting with a Revolution Celebration Kickoff Celebration, complete with cultural dances and music from different New Jersey communities, held from 1-4pm on June 29th at Zimmerli Art Museum, located at 71 Hamilton Street in New Brunswick. As the week continues, look forward to a Declaration of Independence reading, informative museum exhibits about the Indian Trail and midcentury New Jersey, 18th century ice cream making, and, of course, fireworks.
