Since being made into an “official feast day” in Ireland in the 17th century, St. Patrick’s Day has been an occasion for merriment and festivities and the celebration of Irish culture. Here in the United States, that means festivals, parades, the color green, and a whole lot of shamrocks.
In Woodbridge, this holiday is marked by an annual parade. Each year, marching units such as Irish pipe bands and step dancers make their way through the Woodbridge streets celebrating the town along with the culture and contributions of its Irish residents and forefathers. This year marks the 42nd year for this township tradition. The march will kick off on Sunday, March 8th at 1:30pm from Woodbridge High School.
Looking for more community fun in Woodbridge? One week before the parade, the town will be hosting its eighth annual CharityChili Cook-Off. Residents are invited to show off their cooking skills to compete for prizes — and the distinction of being named the best chili chef in town. Not a chef but still like to eat? For $10, you can come down to sample all the grub. This event will be held Sunday, March 1st from 12-2pm at JJ Bitting Brewing Company, located at 33 Main St. in Woodbridge, NJ.
